IQ West of England Branch is pleased to offer a Health & Safety, Mental Health and Engagement CPD Day at the cost of £30 incl VAT (£25 excl VAT).
The event is being held at the Somerset Earth Science Centre, Moons Hill Quarry, Stoke St Michael, Radstock, BA3 5JU between 11:30 and 17:00 on Wednesday, 9th April 2025.
The day will run as follows:
11:30 – 11:45 - Registration
11:45 – 12:05 – Lisa Saunders: Minerals Matter
12:05 – 12:40 - Lunch
12:40 – 12:45 - Introduction to the day
12:45 – 13:50 - Session 1 presentation followed by group discussion
13:50 – 14:00 - Coffee/tea/comfort break
14:00 – 15:15 - Session 2 presentation followed by group discussion
15:15 – 15:25 - Coffee/tea/comfort break
15:25 – 16:30 - Session 3 workshop followed by tea/coffee/informal discussion
16:30 – 16:45 - Summary of the day and feedback
16:45 – 17:00 - Close to the day
The sessions for the CPD Day will feature:
Session 1: HSE Hot Topics – Carl Denley, HSE Inspector - summarising the Executive’s approach to visiting quarries and what their focus topics are for the year. Including an overview of some recent incidents and what can be learned.
Session 2: Mates in Mind – Recheal Valderama, Support Manager - talk about real issues in the industry around mental health, highlighting the reality of the situation, while also engaging with the audience and educating around actions companies can take to encourage change.
Session 3: Health and Safety Engagement and Collaboration - Mark Stallard, Safety Horizons - workshop will involve practical tips on achieving positive engagement within our industry and how we can use them to collaborate with other stakeholders. Case studies and a practical exercise will also be included where attendees will get the opportunity to work in small groups and discuss how this can be maximised in a normal working environment.
