Hydrated Lime in Asphalt

The IQ Scottish branch is pleased to bring you a presentation by Mike Haynes, Director at MPA Lime.

Hydrated lime in asphalt mix designs can improve moisture resistance, improve ageing resistance and enhance stiffness which in combination lead to more durable asphalts.

Recognised for decades as beneficial for airport ‘Marshall’ asphalt mix designs, and also already included in the UK specification options for highways asphalts, hydrated lime is nothing new.

National Highways has included hydrated lime in asphalt in their register of durability improvement options towards achieving their zero carbon target.
