The Scottish Branch is delighted to have Andrew Gall, Silt Mitigation Lead at A & L McCrae, presenting on Silt Sump Systems.
The Silt Sump is a major improvement on straw bales or silt netting, which often release the trapped silt into the watercourse when lifted or removed. The silt sump is designed to "Capture" silt. It can be used a single item or several in tandem. It is designed in house so the very nature of it is simple in design and deployablilty, hence the company name, RDK, Rapid Deployment Kit.
The Silt Sump mark 2 is designed with "lifting eyes" to enable contractors to remove and reuse the material where possible.
